I came across this TMZ article on Rakim and was compelled to say something. This is an issue in hip hop over the past decade or so in which hip hop has become really dumb as far as lyrics. Rap artists used to take so much pride in creating very powerful songs and just being creative. Some of the new guys can argue they are trying to be creative and they are making a living which you have to appreciate. But at the same time, these guys are making the youth look up to very materialistic things with no real message.
